Ropelight can be cut into different lengths. Depending on the manufacturer, the minimum lengths will vary. For instance, some ropelights can only be cut every 24 bulbs, while other ropelight can be cut every 18 bulbs.
A way to tell where to cut is to plug the ropelight in and look for where the wires are that attach to the main supply lines on either side of the bulbs.
